AIChE Western Regional Student Conference offers students the opportunity to network with professionals from industry and academia, explore potential career paths, and expand their knowledge of the chemical engineering field. Attendees meet other students from their region to share experiences and exchange ideas on how to run successful AIChE student chapters. Students present cutting-edge research in the Regional Student Paper Competition, participate in educational workshops that can influence their career options, and compete at the Regional Chem-E-Car Competition and Regional ChemE Jeopardy Competition. The University of California, San Diego has the honor of hosting the competition for the 2016-2017 academic year. There will be a multitude of events promoting the professional development as well as the social network of chemical engineers. AIChE at UCSD and Chem-E-Car have attended and competed in this conference every year with the goal of exercising their developed skills in mechanical and chemical design. The goal by the end of this conference, like for the other hosts for previous years, is to raise awareness for the capabilities of chemical engineering, and to cultivate the community of graduating students and prepare them for the world.
